We can support them if they are 18+

They are not 18+

We can support them if their need that falls within one of the following categories

  • Support required to make a planned move within Leeds
  • Support required to prevent homelessness
  • Support required to manage their existing tenancy

We can support them if they have a secondary support need that impacts their ability to manage housing issues independently.

Examples of secondary support needs include:

  • Learning disabilities
  • Being a refugee
  • Autism
  • Asperger’s Syndrome
  • Neurodivergence
  • Substance/alcohol misuse
  • Carer Strain
  • Mental Health Difficulties
  • Physical Health Difficulties
  • Domestic Violence
  • Offending
  • Dementia

Please note:

  • Consent must be gained from the person being referred before proceeding with the referral.
  • If the person being referred is looking for social housing and bidding independently with the correct priority banding for their situation, we can only support them in their search for private rentals.

What Happens Next?

  1. Once a referral has been received in the Hub, it will be placed on our waiting list.
  2. All referrals are checked daily to ensure we prioritise urgent cases, such as those at risk of imminent street homelessness or people fleeing domestic violence /harassment
  3. Once we get to your referral on the list, the Hub will make contact with the person referred to discuss their situation.
  4. Once we know that Engage Leeds is the right service for the person being referred their details will be passed on to one of our teams who will allocate a Housing Support Worker
  5. If, however, we feel we are not the right service for the person at the time, the hub will either provide one-off advice or signpost them to a more appropriate service.
  6. The referrer will be informed if the referral has been accepted or declined/signposted.
